The wind outside my window had kept me up half the night. It had been like this all summer, violent wind storms, and lack of sleep. You'd think by now that I would have gotten used to the loud howl of the wind, but it was just the opposite. The wind unnerved me more, especially in the darkness of my small room. I turned over on my soft, feather mattress bed, my eyes locking onto the desk on the opposite side of the room. Oddly, it was neater than I had remembered.
